On February 23, the Public Information Office of the Guizhou Provincial Government held a press conference at the International Conference Center of the Guizhou Hotel, officially announcing Guizhou Province’s Top Ten Scientific and Technological Innovation Achievements for 2022. The achievement “Key Technologies for the Construction of Ultra-High Piers and Multi-Tower Cable-Stayed Bridges in Mountainous Areas,” in which Kan She Co., Ltd. participated, was successfully selected.
The “Top Ten Scientific and Technological Innovation Achievements of Guizhou Province for 2022” selection event was jointly organized by the Guizhou Provincial Department of Science and Technology and the Guizhou Provincial Association for Science and Technology. This marked the first time that Guizhou Province has conducted a selection of top ten scientific and technological innovation achievements. The selected achievements include one that addresses the forefront of global science and technology, four that focus on the main battleground of the economy, three that meet major national needs, and two that benefit people’s health and well-being. The selection process adhered to the principles of upholding the spirit of science and closely integrating innovation with the daily lives and production of the general public. It aims to thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and fully showcase the significant scientific and technological innovation achievements made by Guizhou’s universities, research institutes, and enterprises. The “Key Technologies for the Construction of Ultra-High Piers and Multi-Tower Cable-Stayed Bridges in Mountainous Areas” is among the award-winning achievements that target the main battleground of the economy.

“The Key Technologies for the Construction of Ultra-High Piers, Multi-Tower, Long-Span Cable-Stayed Bridges in Mountainous Areas” is a critical technology system developed specifically for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of ultra-high-pier, multi-tower, long-span cable-stayed bridges in complex mountainous environments. This achievement has led to the development of a structural system featuring hinged connections between the central tower and the bridge deck, as well as vertical supports for the side towers. It has also introduced ultra-high-capacity multidirectional rotating spherical steel bearings and novel viscoelastic dampers. Additionally, a complete set of construction techniques has been developed for segmental longitudinal shifting and rotational assembly, along with an integrated BIM-based information management system for bridge construction and maintenance. These technologies have been successfully applied to the construction of numerous bridges, including the Pingtang Bridge, the Yunwu Bridge on the Du'an Expressway, the Second Yangtze River Bridge in Jiang'an, Sichuan, and the Jinsha River Super Bridge on the Duxiang Expressway in Yunnan. By shortening construction periods and effectively reducing construction costs, this technology has generated comprehensive economic benefits totaling 3.15 billion yuan.


Full-segment longitudinal shifting and rotational cantilever assembly
Relying on this achievement, the Pingtang Bridge has successively won three major international engineering awards from leading global engineering organizations: the Gustav Lindenthal Medal from the International Bridge Conference (IBC), the Global Project Excellence Award from the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC), and the Outstanding Infrastructure Award from the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE). Additionally, it has received prestigious awards such as the Luban Prize for the 2022-2023 period and the First Prize in the “Bridge Engineering Innovation Award” presented by the China Highway Society.
