On May 4, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the All-China Youth Federation held the 27th China Youth May Fourth Medal Ceremony and the 2022 “Two Reds and Two Excellents” Awards Ceremony in Beijing. The Bridge Design Institute’s Bridge Team of the Transportation Business Division of Kan She Co., Ltd. was awarded the “China Youth May Fourth Medal Collective.” He Junkuo, First Secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, presented awards to the collectives and individuals honored with the 27th “China Youth May Fourth Medal.” (Play video)

The “May Fourth Youth Medal of China” is the highest honor conferred by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the All-China Youth Federation upon outstanding young Chinese individuals. It aims to recognize role models among young people who demonstrate political advancement, excellent moral character, and remarkable contributions, thereby reflecting the spiritual qualities and value aspirations of contemporary youth. By fully leveraging the exemplary and leading role of these young role models, the medal seeks to inspire广大青少年 to strive vigorously, take responsibility courageously, and enthusiastically engage in the vibrant practice of fully building a modern socialist country with a vigorous and enterprising spirit.

 

 

      The Bridge Team of Kanshe Shares comprises a total of 22 members, with an average age of 34. Since its establishment, this young, dynamic team has relentlessly pursued excellence and boldly forged ahead, consistently remaining at the forefront of bridge construction. Over the years, they have successfully tackled numerous major technical challenges, including the design of ultra-high piers and multi-tower cable-stayed bridges in mountainous regions, the design of asymmetric hybrid steel-concrete composite cable-stayed bridges in mountainous areas, and the design of suspension bridges in mountainous terrain. They have efficiently and with high quality completed over 200 special bridge design projects; among the world’s top 100 tallest bridges, 18 were designed by this team.

Kan She Shares Bridge Team

The Huajiang Canyon Bridge is a long-span suspension bridge spanning the Huajiang Canyon along the Liuzhi-Anlong Expressway in Guizhou Province. With a main span of 1,420 meters and a deck height of 625 meters above the water surface, the bridge is expected to be completed in 2025. Upon completion, it will become both the “world’s longest-span bridge in mountainous regions” and the “world’s highest bridge.” The design of the Huajiang Canyon Bridge strives to achieve new breakthroughs in “bridge-tourism integration,” making full use of the bridge’s space to create integrated tourism attractions such as a stargazing bar, high-altitude racing tracks, and extreme swings. Once completed, the bridge will serve as a world-class tourism landmark representing Guizhou.  
 

The Pingtang Bridge is a three-tower steel-concrete composite girder cable-stayed bridge spanning the Caodu River Grand Canyon on the Pingtang–Luodian Expressway in Guizhou Province. Its main span measures 2 × 550 meters, and its No. 16 tower stands at 332 meters high, making it the world’s tallest concrete bridge tower. The bridge deck is 305 meters above the water surface, ranking it 43rd among the world’s highest bridges. Pingtang Bridge The design innovatively introduces a new structural system tailored for ultra-high-pier multi-tower cable-stayed bridges, a novel spatial bridge tower design, refined load-parameter design for ultra-high-pier multi-tower cable-stayed bridges, design-led construction coordination, and innovative construction techniques. These achievements harmoniously integrate people, bridges, and the natural environment, enhancing the bridge’s safety, durability, and aesthetic appeal while maximizing cost savings in the project. The bridge has been awarded the Gustav Lindenthal Medal by the International Bridge Conference (IBC), the Outstanding Infrastructure Award by the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE), and the Global Project Excellence Award by the Federation Internationale des Ingénieurs-Conseils (FIDIC), making it the only project in China—after the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge—to have won all three of these prestigious international bridge awards.

 

The Huayu Cave Bridge, located in the Hongfeng Lake Scenic Area and Drinking Water Source Protection Zone in Guizhou Province, is a steel tube-concrete arch bridge with a main span of 180 meters. The bridge pioneered worldwide the innovative design concept of “building a new arch on top of an existing bridge while dismantling the old bridge,” thereby achieving “zero pollution of water sources, zero disturbance to the scenic area, reuse of waste materials, and creation of a new landmark for the landscape.” It has been awarded the Gustav Lindenthal Medal by the International Bridge Conference (IBC) and stands as a prime example of “exquisite beauty” in mountainous bridge engineering.
