Good News | Kan She Shares Wins Two Silver Awards in the 2023 “Tian Gong Cup”!


On December 6-7, the results of the 2023 “Tiangong Cup” Digital Transportation and Intelligent Construction Technology Application Competition, hosted by the China Highway Society, were announced. This competition featured two categories: the Engineering Group and the University Group. A total of 165 entries were submitted. After two rounds of expert evaluation, the Engineering Group selected 10 gold awards, 25 silver awards, and 25 bronze awards. The entry submitted by Kan She Shares... Integrated Application of a BIM+GIS Construction Management Platform for the Guiyang to Pingtang (Guizhou-Guangxi Border) Section of the G7522 Guiyang–Beihai Expressway and BIM Empowers the High-Quality Construction of the Jin Feng Wujiang Bridge Project Two projects stood out from 165 entries and won two silver awards.

The “Tiangong Cup” is a leading-edge competition in China’s intelligent construction for transportation. The initiative aims to implement the Outline of the Digital Transportation Development Plan, promote the application of intelligent construction methods and innovative management models—including digital twins, safety monitoring, digital delivery, smart dispatching, material supervision, and digital maintenance—and advance the coordinated development of next-generation information technology with transportation industrialization technologies. It seeks to foster deep integration across the entire industrial chain of digitalization and intelligent construction, enhance the digital integrated management level of highway infrastructure, and support the development of smart transportation.

by The two projects—“Integrated Application Platform for BIM+GIS Construction Management of the Guiyang to Pingtang (Guizhou-Guangxi Border) Section of the G7522 Guiyang–Beihai Expressway,” jointly submitted by Kanshe Co., Ltd. and the Bridge & Road Group under Guizhou Communications Construction Group, as well as the Guizhou-Guangxi Border section of the same expressway—and “BIM-Driven High-Quality Engineering Project: The Digital JinFeng Wujiang Bridge,” jointly submitted by Kanshe Co., Ltd. and the Bridge & Road Group under Guizhou Communications Construction Group—have both been awarded the Silver Prize in the “Tiangong Cup.” This recognition not only affirms our capabilities and efforts but also serves as a source of motivation for us to continue striving for excellence.

"Integrated Application Platform for BIM+GIS Construction Management of the Guiyang to Pingtang (Guizhou-Guangxi Border) Section of the G7522 Guiyang–Beihai Expressway"—based on the integration of BIM and GIS, this platform builds a three-dimensional visualization application that incorporates both geographic environments and BIM models. Taking quantity surveying and payment as the key driver and using the zero-based ledger as the implementation cornerstone, it breaks down barriers to the effective utilization of project data throughout the design, construction, operation, and maintenance phases. Centered on the principle of "aggregation and commonality," the platform achieves seamless integration, interconnection, and application of data across all project stages. Leveraging BIM and GIS as its visualization foundation, it connects and aggregates data from each construction phase and across various business domains, thereby unlocking the value of data assets and enabling full-lifecycle management of project construction.

“BIM Empowers the High-Quality Construction of the JinFeng Wujiang Bridge”—In the design and construction of the JinFeng Wujiang Bridge, BIM technology was deeply integrated, enabling functions such as auxiliary design of steel truss girders, verification of quantities, review of construction drawings, pre-assembly of steel truss girders, positioning of prestressed conduits for anchorages, and digital platform-based project management. These advancements have significantly enhanced the quality of project implementation, generated substantial economic and social benefits, and provided a successful reference for the application of BIM in similar bridge types.
