Among the world’s top 100 tallest bridges, the Guizhou Transportation Mountainous-Canyon Bridge Construction Technology Team has participated in the construction of 34 bridges, winning six international awards, two National Science and Technology Progress Awards, and 56 invention patents. The team has also received 20 national engineering awards, including the Zhan Tianyou Award and the Luban Award. The team has pioneered over a hundred bridge-construction technologies that are at the forefront both domestically and internationally, including seven pioneering technologies that rank among the world’s leading innovations. They have built 12 “world’s first bridges,” among which is the Pingtang Bridge—the bridge that has swept all three major international engineering awards. It is they who, amidst the spectacular peaks and treacherous valleys of the karst plateau, have created a human marvel nestled between mountains and waters. In January 2024, the team was awarded the title of “National Outstanding Engineering Team” by the Party Central Committee and the State Council.
