The Meitan Meijiang Navigation Project is a key initiative under the implementation of the “Guizhou Province Water Transport Development Plan (2012-2030).” It was included in our province’s three-year water transport campaign and commenced construction in 2014. The project is located in Meitan County, Zunyi City. Our company began conducting preliminary feasibility studies for the project in March 2014 and completed the detailed design work by December of the same year. According to the project’s development plan, two new navigation locks—Wenjiawan Lock and Qunli Bridge Lock—will be constructed. At the Qunli Bridge Lock complex, one new ship lock will be built. Additionally, two large-scale berthing facilities and 20 small-scale berthing facilities will be newly constructed within the reservoir areas of Wenjiawan and Qunli Bridge. The designed annual passenger throughput is 400,000 people. The effective dimensions of the ship lock are 28 meters long, 6 meters wide, and with a threshold water depth of 1.0 meter. The approved total estimated investment for the project is 55.1142 million yuan.

Construction of the project began in May 2015 and was completed for trial operation in March 2016. This project is the only shiplock built in our province since the founding of New China. As a new highlight of tourism in Meitan, it has played a positive leading role in the development of our province’s water transportation sector. (Guo Honglin)
