On November 9, the 2024 Bridge and Tunnel Development Science and Technology Innovation Conference, jointly hosted by the editorial team of "Bridge" magazine and Guizhou Transportation Construction Group Co., Ltd., Guizhou Expressway Group Co., Ltd., and Guizhou Provincial Highway Development Group Co., Ltd., was grandly held in Guiyang. Guizhou Kanshe Co., Ltd., as a co-organizer, actively participated in the conference.
The conference brought together experts and corporate leaders from transportation authorities, design, construction, equipment, materials, and other related fields across the country. Hundreds of organizations gathered to jointly explore innovations in bridge and tunnel technology and celebrate this momentous occasion. Former Minister of Transport Huang Zhendong, former Deputy Minister of Transport Gao Hongfeng, and numerous renowned academicians and industry experts attended the meeting.
This conference is themed “Technological Advancements Empower Quality Engineering; Innovation Drives the Development of Bridges and Tunnels.” It will delve into topics such as fostering the sustained development of bridge and tunnel technology, promoting the application of digital and intelligent technologies in the bridge, tunnel, and transportation sectors, celebrating bridge culture, and enhancing the core competitiveness of the bridge and tunnel industry. The conference features several thematic sessions, including the “Ben’an Asia-Pacific” Scientific Grand Project Session, the Bridge and Tunnel Technology “Master” Session, and the “Top Ten Bridge Figures” Session on Bridge and Tunnel Technology Development. Among these, Yang Jian, Chief Engineer of Guizhou Exploration & Design Co., Ltd., chaired the “Bridge and Tunnel Design, Construction, and Digital & Intelligent Technology Development Report—Guizhou Bridge Special Session.”

At the special seminar, Chief Engineer Yang Jian delivered a report titled “Innovative Design of the Huajiang Canyon Bridge.” The Huajiang Canyon Bridge is a key project on the Liuan Expressway in Guizhou Province. It is a steel truss suspension bridge with a main span of 1,420 meters, and its deck is situated 625 meters above the water surface. Upon completion, it will become the world’s highest bridge. Yang Jian provided a detailed account of the project’s innovations and key technologies—including research on wind resistance performance for canyon bridges, smart cable strands for main cables, lightweight cable saddles, and the integration of bridge design with tourism—offering valuable experience for the construction of large-span bridges in mountainous regions.

In addition, Liu Jianjun, Chief Engineer of the Transportation Division at Kan She Co., Ltd., delivered a report titled “Key Technologies in the Design and Construction of the Liuchehe Bridge—A Double-Arch Bridge.” The Liuchehe Bridge spans a 100-meter-deep ravine and a steep canyon that plunges to a depth of 400 meters. Through a thorough study of the stability of the steep canyon slopes, the engineers rationally determined the safe zones for the bridge piers and ultimately adopted a two-span, 263.5-meter-long asymmetric steel tube concrete arch bridge with variable cross-sections. Liu Jianjun provided a detailed explanation of the inclined-pile arch foundation scheme for the tunnel, which significantly reduced the environmental impact. To address the issues of poor stability in the conventional two-span cable-stayed bridge with three towers and the interference from high-voltage power lines, the project team conducted research and developed a single-tower, single-span cable-stayed bridge design that is well-suited to the terrain and eliminates the need to dismantle the existing high-voltage transmission towers.

In the outdoor exhibition area of the conference, Kan She Co., Ltd. set up a booth to comprehensively showcase the company’s landmark project cases, including the Pingtang Bridge, Huayu Dong Bridge, Huajiang Canyon Bridge, and Tencent Gui’an Qixing Data Center. The booth also highlighted the specialized technical solutions and services offered by Guizhou Hongxin Chuanda Engineering Testing & Consulting Co., Ltd. and Guizhou Hongxinda High-Tech Co., Ltd.—both wholly-owned subsidiaries of Kan She Co., Ltd.—in the fields of smart operation and maintenance as well as asset management. In addition, the booth featured the “Na Shan You Qiao” cultural and creative product series, which attracted considerable attention and praise from visitors thanks to their unique creativity and exquisite craftsmanship.
The 2024 Bridge and Tunnel Development Science and Technology Innovation Conference concluded successfully on the 11th. Guizhou Survey & Design Co., Ltd. will continue to uphold the philosophy of scientific and technological innovation, constantly enhance its technical capabilities, and contribute to the development of the bridge and tunnel industry, thereby playing its part in building a strong transportation nation.
