Recently, the Department of Science and Technology (Intellectual Property Office) of Guizhou Province announced the list of major provincial science and technology projects for 2016. The project “Research and Application of Key Technologies for the Construction of Ultra-High Piers and Multi-Tower Cable-Stayed Bridges in Mountainous Areas,” jointly undertaken by our company and Guizhou Provincial Highway Development Co., Ltd., has been approved.
This project takes the Pingtang Extra-large Bridge on the Guizhou Province Yuqing–Anlong Expressway, specifically the section from Pingtang to Luodian, as its foundation. The bridge features a composite beam cable-stayed bridge with three towers and double cable planes, spanning 2 × 550 meters, and is characterized by ultra-high piers, multiple towers, large spans, and a complex construction environment. To provide stronger technical support for the construction and management of the Pingtang Extra-large Bridge and to build core competitiveness, since the beginning of this year, the company has organized relevant technical teams internally and jointly established a project team with entities such as Guizhou Provincial Highway Development Co., Ltd. Over the past half-year, the project team has conducted overall planning, submitted applications, and prepared feasibility studies for the key research topics of this major special project, and has also held numerous expert consultations. Ultimately, the project passed the expert review organized by the Science and Technology Department and received approval for funding. The total budget for the project’s research amounts to 14.2 million yuan, of which 4.741 million yuan is provided by special funds from the Guizhou provincial finance, 8.459 million yuan is matched by Guizhou Provincial Highway Development Co., Ltd., and the company itself contributes 1 million yuan. This project marks the second time the company has undertaken research under a major science and technology special project in Guizhou Province. The project’s research period runs from January 2016 to December 2019.
Through this project, we will provide comprehensive technical support for the construction of the Pingtang Super Bridge. At the same time, we will distill and develop common technologies applicable to the construction and maintenance of ultra-high piers, multi-tower, and long-span cable-stayed bridges in mountainous regions, thereby significantly enhancing our province’s capabilities in the construction and management of such bridges. This work will also hold great significance for the future construction of similar projects both within our province and across the country. (Zhang Yi)
