On April 13, 2017, the Yunnan Provincial Department of Transport organized a preliminary design review meeting for the Kunming (Minshan) to Chuxiong (Guangtong) Expressway in Chuxiong, Yunnan Province. Attending the review meeting were representatives from the Yunnan Provincial Department of Transport, the Department’s Cost Control Bureau, the Department’s Quality Supervision Bureau, the Kunming Municipal Department of Transport, the Chuxiong Prefecture Department of Transport, the Kun-Chu-Da Project Company, Yunnan Transportation Consulting Co., Ltd., the survey and design institution—the Yunnan Provincial Institute of Transportation Planning and Design, Guizhou Provincial Institute of Transportation Planning, Survey and Design Co., Ltd., and the survey and design consulting firm—the Sichuan Provincial Department of Transport’s Institute of Transportation Survey and Design, as well as other relevant units and departments.
The meeting was chaired by Wu Huajin, Chief Engineer of the Yunnan Provincial Department of Transport. The overall design unit for this project, the Yunnan Provincial Institute of Transportation Planning and Design, delivered a comprehensive briefing on the entire route’s design scheme. The Sichuan Provincial Department of Transport’s Institute of Transportation Survey and Design provided a report on its advisory opinions, while Yunnan Transportation Consulting Co., Ltd. presented a report on its review findings.
The starting point (K0+933.818) of this project is located near Minshan in Wuhua District, Kunming City. The route passes through Tuanjie Town, Qinfeng Town, Heping Town, Lufeng County, and Yipinglang Town, and ends at K186+830 in Guangtong Town, where it connects to the proposed expansion project of the Chuxiong-Dali Expressway. The total length of the route is 108.613 kilometers. The project is divided into two civil engineering sections: Section SJ-1 is 35.850 kilometers long, and Section SJ-2 is 72.763 kilometers long.
This project is being constructed in accordance with the technical standards for a six-lane, two-way expressway, with a design speed of 100 km/h and a subgrade width of 33.5 meters; the separated subgrades have a width of 16.75 meters. Our company is responsible for the survey and design work during the preliminary design phase of Contract Section SJ-1 of this project. The main contents of this review include: alignment, subgrade, pavement, bridges, tunnels, geotechnical investigation, building construction, traffic engineering, and the preliminary design estimate.
After carefully listening to the design presentation by the designers, the advisory opinions from the consulting firm, and the review comments from the reviewing agency, the attending leaders and relevant personnel each expressed their own views and suggestions. Now that the preliminary design has passed the review, the designers will promptly revise and refine the design, taking into account the advisory opinions, review comments, and reasonable suggestions offered by the attendees. The preliminary design documents will be submitted to the Yunnan Provincial Department of Transportation for approval before May 1st.
