The lecture is divided into... 3 In the first section, “Basic Knowledge of Construction Cost,” Comrade Zeng Zongping, Director of the Cost Estimation Office, provided a detailed explanation. Starting from the overall project design process, he introduced the concept of “Estimation, Preliminary Budgeting, Detailed Calculation, Management, Closure, and Maintenance” in a phased manner. The other two sections—“Explanation of Construction Cost Indices” and “Interpretation of Quantity Takeoffs”—were led by Comrade Tang Zaifang. She used a real-world project she had worked on as an illustrative example, addressing practical issues encountered in roadbed, bridge and culvert, drainage, and protection design and cost estimation, as well as common pitfalls in filling out quantity takeoff forms. During the Q&A session at the end of the lecture, colleagues from various design institutes actively exchanged views on the lecture’s key topics.
Zhang Guofa, Director of the Third Branch Institute, summarized the lecture and highlighted the institute’s shortcomings from various perspectives, including the current status of the company and the branch institute, the institute’s personnel structure, and past lessons learned. He also emphasized the importance of enhancing the technical skills of all staff members and outlined subsequent work plans, such as developing a standardized template for engineering quantity lists specific to the branch institute.
