As a key member of the bridge design team at Kanshe Co., Ltd., Yang Hongbo has led the design of more than 60 exceptionally large-scale bridges, including over 10 world-class bridges that present significant technical challenges and have successfully overcome numerous complex technical hurdles. The Pingtang Bridge, which he oversaw the design of, boasts the world’s tallest concrete bridge tower and has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Gustav Lindenthal Medal from the International Bridge Conference (IBC), the Outstanding Infrastructure Award from the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE), and the Global Project Excellence Award from the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC). This project is the only one in China—after the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge—to have won all three major international bridge awards, greatly enhancing Guizhou’s reputation as the “Bridge Museum.”
In 2023, Yang Hongbo was selected for the “Guizhou Transportation Mountainous Area Canyon Bridge Construction Technology Team” and was awarded China’s highest honor in the field of engineering technology—the inaugural “National Outstanding Engineering Team” title. Individually, he has received more than 20 provincial- and ministerial-level awards, holds 4 patents, and served as chief editor of the publications “Construction Technology for Large-Span Cable-Stayed Bridges in Guizhou’s Mountainous Areas” and “Construction and Maintenance of Large-Span Cable-Stayed Bridges in Canyons.” He has also been honored with titles such as “Most Beautiful Worker of Guizhou Province” and “Guizhou Transportation Craftsman.”
