The “2024 Guizhou Transportation Industry Public Science Literacy Competition and the Preliminary Round of the Guizhou Province Public Science Literacy Competition,” hosted by the Guizhou Provincial Department of Transport and co-organized by Guizhou Expressway Group Co., Ltd. and Guizhou Zhongnan Transportation Technology Co., Ltd., was solemnly held on September 10. After two days of intense and exciting competition, our company’s team delivered an outstanding performance and won the second prize in the competition. Meanwhile, our company, as a participating unit, also received the Award for Outstanding Organization in the competition.

This competition is themed “Sow the Seeds of Science, Empower Technological Advancement in Guizhou.” It features four segments: video-based quiz, single-choice buzzer questions, multiple-choice buzzer questions, and speech practice. The event aims to comprehensively showcase the participants’ scientific literacy, knowledge base, and practical innovation capabilities. Through this competitive format, it seeks to spark public interest and enthusiasm for science and enhance the general public’s scientific literacy. The competition lasts two days and consists of two stages: a preliminary round and a final round. A total of 18 teams from the transportation system of Guizhou Province are taking part in the competition.
This event was organized by the company’s Technical Quality Department. Jiang Shiwei from the Tunnel and Underground Space Design Institute of the Transportation Business Division, Zhao Zhenyu from the Public Safety Research Institute of the Engineering Digital Intelligence R&D Center, and Jiang Xiaoyun from the Second Architectural Design Institute of the Construction Business Division formed the “Provincial Transportation Survey Institute Team” to compete. Thanks to their meticulous preparation, profound scientific knowledge, and quick thinking, our team’s participants delivered outstanding performances during the question-and-answer session. In the science presentation practice segment, the contestants made the “Blue Journey of Mechanically Produced Sand—Methylene Blue MB Test” easy to understand through vivid explanations and engaging demonstrations, enabling the audience to experience firsthand the charm of transportation engineering testing.

This competition not only provided a platform for professionals in the transportation industry to showcase their scientific literacy and talents, but also successfully ignited enthusiasm and passion for scientific and technological work among a broad spectrum of transportation personnel.
