Qianxi-Dafang Expressway in Guizhou Province

On the afternoon of October 18, 2016, the preliminary design review meeting for the Dongguan to Qingfeng section of the Qianxi-Dafang Expressway in Guizhou Province was held in Guiyang. Representatives from relevant units and departments—including the Guizhou Provincial Department of Transport, the Provincial Expressway Administration, the Provincial Quality Supervision Bureau for Transportation Construction Projects, the Provincial Cost Management Station for Transportation Construction Projects, the People's Government of Qixingguan District in Bijie, the Bijie Municipal Department of Transport, the People's Government of Dafang County, the Dafang County Department of Transport, Guizhou Expressway Group Co., Ltd., and Guizhou Communications Construction Group—attended the review meeting.

The main contents of this review include the route, subgrade, pavement, bridges, geotechnical investigation, traffic engineering and ancillary facilities along the route, building construction, landscaping, and the preliminary design estimate. Wang Ruifu, Assistant Director of the Department’s Construction Management Division, chaired the review meeting. Our Second Branch Office presented the design proposal, while the consulting firm, Chongqing Transportation Research & Design Institute, presented its advisory opinions.

The proposed eastern section of the Guizhou Province Qianxi-Dafang Expressway, from Dongguan to Qingfeng, is an extension of the “Second Link” Qianxi-Dafang Expressway under Guizhou Province’s expressway network plan (“678” network). It also serves as the northern ring road—a planned urban bypass route—proposed by the Bijie region itself in response to its own economic and social development needs, connecting various planned urban clusters. The route starts at Dongguan, northeast of Dafang County seat, where it seamlessly connects with the existing Qianxi-Dafang Expressway and forms a cross-shaped intersection with the Zunbi section of the Hangrui Expressway. From there, the route passes through a tunnel near Longjingbian into Hejiazhai, crosses the Liangcha River, follows the mountain gullies, enters another tunnel leading to Xiaoba, then continues via Xiaoba and Haizijie to DaoTianhe. After passing through yet another tunnel, the route returns to the northern slopes of Bijie’s old city center and finally terminates at the new Qingfeng interchange in the west of Bijie City, where it connects with the Bijie-Zhenjiang Expressway. The total length of the route is 53.456683 kilometers. Of this, approximately 6.7 km runs within Dafang County seat, about 19.4 km lies within the Jinhaihu New Area, and roughly 27.4 km traverses the Qixingguan District. The preliminary estimated total cost is 7.96475 billion yuan.

After carefully listening to the design presentation and the advisory comments, the attending leaders and relevant personnel expressed their own views and suggestions. At the conclusion of the meeting, it was unanimously agreed that the preliminary design had passed the review. Our company’s designers will promptly incorporate the advisory comments and the reasonable suggestions made by the attendees into the design revisions and submit the formal preliminary design documents according to the owner’s schedule requirements.
