Engineering Design for the Qiyuan Mountain Ring Road Construction Project in Xifeng County
Project Overview:
The engineering design for the Tuanyuan Mountain Ring Road Project in Xifeng County was completed and opened to traffic in February 2019. The road has a total length of 11.933 kilometers and is equipped with comprehensive municipal facilities, making it an important urban ring road for Xifeng. Guided by the concept of green road construction, the project’s design features numerous innovative highlights, including the application of BIM technology and “Internet Plus” technologies in the Xishan Super Bridge, as well as the province’s first-ever adoption of new glass-fiber reinforced plastic sand pipes. The project meets the requirements of "energy conservation, land saving, water conservation, and material efficiency." By employing a variety of integrated approaches, the project effectively addresses interference issues with the Gui-Zun Expressway and the Sinopec oil pipeline, while also fulfilling the needs of integrated tourism and transportation. As a result, the project has yielded significant social and economic benefits.
Project Highlights:
- The application of green road design principles in the overall planning of municipal routes further refines and compares multiple alternatives based on urban planning. Ecological protection technologies have been implemented on municipal roads, with particular emphasis on safeguarding natural landforms, native vegetation, surface resources, and wetland ecosystems. This approach aligns with the principles of "energy conservation, land conservation, water conservation, and material conservation."
- The Xishan Super Bridge has pioneered the integrated application of BIM technology and Internet+ technology in engineering practice within the province, placing it at a leading level nationwide and achieving significant economic, social, and environmental benefits.
- The treatment plan for the large-span corrugated culvert crossing over the petroleum pipeline involves the route crossing the Sinopec oil pipeline at K3+870 and intersecting with it again at TK2+605. For the first time in municipal roads within the province, an arch-shaped corrugated steel plate structure with a span of 8 meters has been adopted, which has shortened the construction period and met the requirements for subsequent maintenance of the petroleum pipeline. The plan has received approval from the Guiyang Oil Pipeline Management Office of the South China Branch of Sinopec Sales Co., Ltd., providing strong support for the smooth implementation of the project. As a result, the project has achieved significant social and economic benefits.
- The stormwater and sewage pipes utilize a new material—glass-fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) sand-embedded pipes. GFRP sand-embedded pipes are a novel composite material made by using resin as the matrix, glass fibers and their products as reinforcing materials, and quartz sand as the filler. They boast excellent corrosion resistance and superior hydraulic performance, while also offering advantages such as being lightweight yet highly strong, capable of handling large flow rates, and easy to install. GFRP sand-embedded pipes feature a smooth inner surface with a low friction coefficient, resulting in excellent hydraulic fluid dynamics and reducing the likelihood of pipe blockages, thus facilitating convenient maintenance and upkeep in the future.
